Trader Joe's / Whole Foods / Eatzi's - Places that people can go on the weekends or for lunch. In Austin, that huge Whole Foods totally revitalized 5th and Lamar, allowed for people to walk over for lunch, park underneath for groceries and give people living downtown the option to actually live downtown. You can't tell people it's a neighborhood and not have a grocery store.

Farmers Market could use some help - how about opening a Whole Foods / Trader Joe's over there - adds to traffic.

Free parking after 5pm and on weekends is also a great idea.

I totally agree with dallasboiler -- I strongly believe that Dallas will not have a vibrant downtown scene until we close the tunnels. when i moved back to dallas from nyc, i was always so confused as to why there was no one on the streets in downtown during the day, then, I started working there and discovered the tunnels. I would rather walk outside in 105 degree heat feeling like I was part of a city, rather than feeling like a reasonably cool temperatured mole person.

* Close the tunnels (get get daytime crowd on the street and allow restaurants to stay open past 5pm)
* Free night and weekend parking (a la Sundance Square)
* Dedicated trams from a) Pearl St Station to Deep Ellum and b) Pearl St Station to Stone St Gardens
* Open dog parks strategically next to future apartments/condos (I'm sick of dog poop on the sidewalks around the Republic Building and the Mosaic Building)

Lots of good suggestions, gang. Really, a lot of hustle. I think my favorite two (so far) are water slide and the Twilight Room.
