Yesterday the Texas Giant, once the tallest wooden roller-coaster around, roughly jostled its last group of riders. It was 19. Tip of the hat to the Dallas Morning News for running that story across from the obits page. Clever. (And don’t worry — it’s basically coming back in 2011, in some form at least.)
I loved that coaster but I always wished it had more leg room. Topping two meters makes for painful knees after most of these ride but especially this one!
Worst coaster ever.
I officially feel older than I did 2 minutes ago.
@kellyk, no kidding. I was working for an SFOT contractor at the time and we watched the thing go up.
I remember when it came out…”tallest, most intense wooden coaster in the Nation.” then, San Antonio got the Rattler and beat it. now, wooden coasters seem so anachronistic, I have no idea why anyone would spend any money building them. It’s more like a Steam Punk idea than something modern.
