Here are the results of a study by the Tax Foundation. (The map says we are #11 but it also says Nevada is #11; Nevada wins, we’re 12.)

The highest property tax rate, the 12th highest sales tax rate, and tied for the lowest personal income tax rate.

We don’t have a State Income Tax. Wick, see if there is a map that shows which States have income taxes and the rate, then let’s compare!

It would be interesting to see a total effective tax rate, where income, franchise, property and sales taxes were collectively analyzed. All in Texas is still a cheap place to live.

I believe Chicago may have the highest sales tax in the nation now at 10.25%, AND Illinois has state income tax.
Folks in Texas do have it better than they think with no state income tax. It somewhat evens out but you at least have more control here.
