An alert FBvian points us to a post (featured as the lead, no less) on Open Salon that our own longtime commenter Bethany has authored about Rick Perry’s latest dastardly act. The post begins:
As we’ve discussed before, Gov. Rick Perry loves the death penalty. If he could, he’d swaddle it in the softest cashmere blankets and tuck it in every night, close to his hollow chest (where one’s heart is usually located) but nowhere near his impeccable hair.

It’s also posted on her own blog and includes an RGB image of him and his hair blowing in the wind. Please note that he wears jewelry. An ID bracelet?

Ummm…Bethany has the smartestishness/best indy blog. Ever.
I don’t agree with her on practically anything, but she loves a lively debate.
That’s also a big a$$ ring he’s sporting. Do you think this is the signet ring he uses to wax seal his fatal documents?
I doubt there are enough sane Republicans in Texas to vote in Kay. The primary is 100% controlled by the radical right, and they LURVE them some Rick Perry. Until the Castro twins in San Antonio get old enough/experienced enough (and can keep it in their damn pants, stupid “you could have been Governor/President Cisneros!) I don’t know if Texas Dem’s will be able to make any real statewide electoral impact.
All those crazed birthers/anti-evolutionists/pray-away-socialist-health-care/kill-the-married-homos folks are already sitting outside their local voting booths, ready and willing to re-elect Perry. No matter how much $$$ Kay can raise and spend, I don’t think the Republican base will listen to her.
Old childhood friends tell how “Little Rick” never stopped trying to “flush a Port-a-Pot”.
Goodness there is a lot of hate in these comments. I’ve said before that this case bugs me. I support the death penalty and don’t think we use it enough. I just want to make sure we execute people who are actually guilty. There should never be doubt about that.
I do not know all the facts of this case. I do know that the people who convicted this man and other people who were in Corsicana at the time are convinced this guy was guilty. I also know that an arson expert looking at the evidence now is convinced this fire was not arson.
I am sorry we are not going to get an airing of the evidence in this case due to the Governor’s actions.
When George W. Bush was Governor, he commuted the sentence of serial killer Henry Lee Lucas because he was about to be put to death for a murder he probably didn’t commit. There was little question Lucas killed several people in his life. However, evidence came to light that he didn’t kill the particular person for whom he was sentenced to death for killing. Bush did what he should have done and commuted the sentence over the loud protests of several prosecutors.
It is a shame Governor Perry does not have the courage to hear all the evidence in this case. It’s an even bigger shame this evidence didn’t come to light before this man was executed.
How come Bethany no longer links to FB on her site? I heard she was mad at the executive editor, but who knows?
I’m still futzing with my new site since I moved it over to Typepad. No conspiracy. I am experimenting with a different widget, which rotates links in and out on my blogroll.
And where is this magical place where people talk about me? I need to go firebomb it.
Yeah, Bethany still digs Super Jesus.
