WSJ Takes a Look at Perot Family, Ctd.

Just wanted to add a little fuel to the fire sale: A little over a week ago it came to our attention that Ross Perot Jr., had likely bought a sizable Highland Park lot that was once the spot of Bum Bright’s home. The land was purchased in June and is valued at $9,388,790 by DCAD. It’s a beautiful piece of land in a gorgeous neighborhood. No signs of construction yet, but I’m guessing that’s only a matter of time now.

Either RP Jr. maxed out his credit card for that purchase or his wallet is overstuffed from the 68% premium that Dell paid for Perot Systems. So much theories on fire sales and shaky finances.

Last I checked the property on Lakeside was assigned to the Town of Highland Park and designated “commercial” property, this was in DCAD. How could this be? A Burger King on Bum’s lot?

@GMOM Here’s the link to the DCAD page http://www.dallascad.org/AcctDetailRes.aspx?ID=60084500300060000. The one you’re referring to is the park across the street.

Josh, you read my mind all the way from Maine. I’ll be back soon to start digging.

Even Ross Perot Jr. doesn’t want to live in Victory, how depressing is that?

  • Incognizant

Has anyone else been laughing over the past several years that Junior pre-decided that it should be named “Victory.” Isn’t that just sooooo Perot-esque?

And I thought that it was the Germans that lost to the Americans. (Maybe it will turn out that way after all.)

That appraisal reminds me that the entirety of the “nonprofit” private Dallas Country Club–a significantly bigger chunk of HP dirt–is appraised at some ridiculously paltry figure like $10 million. That is so wrong.
