Leading Off (9/11/09)

1. The Green Line rail opens four stops on Monday, including Deep Ellum and the South Dallas area near Fair Park. People hope it will help revitalize these areas. Spoiler alert: It will help once these areas are revitalized. Sorry to break it to you.

2. Dallas’ longest-running creepy HBO drama, The Clergy, has clearly jumped the shark. I mean, a stockbroker-priest scandal? Ridiculous.

3. And congrats to the Midlothian middle-schooler who saved a classmate who was choking on a chocolate muffin. And now, please fill the comments holding bin with immature comments that will make me giggle before I delete them.

  1. Green line is kind of the egg or chicken, which came first, argument. I work downtown near the Pearl Station. Instead of heading to the West End for lunch, I’ll head to Deep Ellum. Finally find out the truth about the famed Twisted Root.

  2. I like to think the Green Line will revive those areas. They already have lots to offer, but the rail will make it easier to get there.
The revitalization will come further north, between Victory Station and Bachman Lake.

  3. Congratulations are indeed in order to the Midlothian schoolchild. Now his classmate is free to spend the next decade or so slowly choking on Midlothian air.

  4. I agree with Idunno. When not enjoying the delicious fare at the Nasher Cafe by Wolfgang Puck (shameless plug), I too will head to Deep Ellum for lunchtime yum.

  8. I’m actually pretty stoked about the Green Line. Now, those who work downtown can hop on it to go to “It’s a Grind” coffee shop instead of having to settle for Starbucks.

  9. Indeed OneArtDirector. There will be lots of cool events tomorrow. Look for the dunk a lawyer dunking booth, raising money for pro bono work. I’ll be on at 11:30.
