I had lunch with several folks from the Golf Channel and CBS today. We were all having a good time talking golf and joking around. Good times were aplenty… until they asked where I worked. The next time someone spoke (several awkward moments later) a Golf Channel guy said, “You know everything you said just got quoted in print by the same magazine that got Feherty in hot water.” I tried to plead our case (and David’s) but to no avail. I left shortly thereafter. Thanks for ruining a good lunch, Tim.
I was just notified that the Pavilion After Dark series will now begin at 3 p.m. to accomodate the updated schedule out here today. Professor D will hit the stage around 3 p.m. and play until around 6. Please plan accordingly.
Now, on to more pressing matters. Ladies, I need a little help from you today. Thanks to a commentor over on InsideCorner, I became aware of a recent phenomenon known as the “Maxi dress”. I admit, I had to Google it to figure out what the heck it was. Once I did, however, I realized that I have seen it many, many times out here. Guys: see attached picture of the young lady on the left to see what I’m referring to.
Now, I am baffled by this attire. To me, it’s the equivalent of wearing a pair of Dickies overalls to a swim party. Maybe I’m just not up with the style, who knows. After all, my idea of fashionable is a pair of plaid shorts and a Jack Johnson t-shirt (preferrably with a picture of some banana pancakes on it).
So, help me out ladies. What’s the deal with wearing these full length, heavy dresses to a hot, humid, outdoor event? The phone lines are open and the comments are on… for now.
Every day at the Nelson there is a group that garners the most attention and the majority of the “non-golf interested” crowds. I will hereby refer to this group as the Money Group. If you are heading out to the Nelson today you will probably want to catch up with group number 5, who went off the first tee at 8:50 this morning.
Players in this group are Charles Howell III, who is a young, good-looking (so I’m told) guy who dresses well and hits the ball a long way, Scott McCarron who is also a nice looking guy who has a solid golf game, and Fred Couples (headline attraction) who I overheard yesterday “Isn’t just hot and old, he’s hot because he’s old!” Freddy Couples is like the George Clooney of the PGA Tour, and I have to admit that even I have a bit of a man crush.
In fact, I’m heading out to the course right now to follow the Money Group and to check in on local golfers Matt Weibring and Colt Knost. If you’re coming out early to beat the weather, swing by and say hello. And bring me a canned mojito, will ya? I hear they’re really great.
