1. Senator KBH fought against earmarks in the current spending bill, all while sponsoring $150 million in earmarks for Texas. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. We like getting money.

2. More than 70 eight-liners were seized in a raid of a Fort Worth gaming room. No word on whether the mother of a certain D Magazine editor was present.

3. Something tells me that the passengers on the two Southwest flights that bumped into each other (wing to tail) would describe it as something more scary than “a clip.” I’m canceling a flight just reading about it.

  1. As to the wingclipping accident involving Southwest Airlines, the reality is that these types of incidents happen weekly at almost every major American airport in connection with taxi and towing procedures.

Such events frankly are no big deal, so long as the incidents are noted and the planes taken out of service for inspection (as such minor damage can nonetheless affect the structural integrity of critical flight surfaces).

  3. Earmarks are evil, they absolutely lead to corruption and greed. Say what you mean and mean what you say.

  4. About four years ago, I was sitting on a plane at IAH, waiting to depart, when two planes clipped each other directly behind my plane. We sat on the ground about 2 1/2 hours waiting for those planes to get out of the way.

I doubt it’s a rare occurrence. I guess this is a big deal because SWA doesn’t kill it’s customers like all of the other airlines have done.

  6. Happily, the mom was not in FW. She was on a plane, which also was not clipped. The luck o’ the Irish!

  7. You don’t understand–OUR earmarks are worthwhile public expenditures, while THEIR earmarks are just greasy pork.
