Scrap of History Found At SMU

The DMN’s Michael Young has a nice story about a seemingly insignificant scrap of paper that turned up in a file at SMU’s DeGolyer Library. By “turned up,” I mean a researcher found it while working on a book about early Texas currency and credit. And by “seemingly insignificant,” I mean not at all insignificant: the scrap is described as the “missing link” that helps piece together what happened in the first days of the Republic of Texas. Here’s the part of the post where I should recite everything I remember from Texas History in grade school. And by “everything,” I mean “anything,” but I didn’t do so well in that class. Apparently.

  2. Adam-

I don’t have a complete grasp on your educational background, but (given what I do know) I don’t think you ever took a class in Texas history.

If that is the case, then please stop beating yourself up. If you actually did take such a class, then you should be ashamed of yourself.

    P.S. Painkillers still holding up?

P.P.S. You are going to share the leftovers, right?
