Does this mean Cubes may be looking into a trade for Shaq? May the Mavs finally have some inside presence?

Shaunie O’Neal, Shaq’s Ex-wife lives in Frisco I believe. When Shaq was shopping around for a new team about 5 years ago, his then wife(now ex) wanted him to play for Dallas. I believe she lives here with their children.
Maybe they are back together again? I don’t follow this kind of thing. I just remember the buzz around the Shaq/Cuban talks.

Shaw does have a house in Frisco, but he does not live there. He has a son that lives there with his mother. Shaq was never married to this women but did the right thing buy buying a house. How do I know this you ask? I waited on him a couple of years ago for two straight night and he told me. BTW – he is such a awesome guy and a great tipper. $500 tip on a $200 tab. TY

It is my understanding that many stars/athletes have property in Texas that they have on the books as their “home” since there is no state tax.
Right or wrong?

Wrong. You have to pay tax in the state in which the income is earned, not where your full time residence is.
Also, the franchise tax in Texas amounts to an income tax (only worse since it’s on revenue instead of net income) on the self employed. Shaq makes a lot more money on endorsements than he does playing basketball. If he’s incorporated, in a partnership, etc., it would probably cost him more here than in some states with an “income tax”.

This isn’t really newsworthy. The dude has a home in almost every major city. He has a crib in Dallas, Orlando, Miami, LA, Houston, NY just to name a few.
Nonetheless, hopefully Cubes and Nelly sort out what needs to be done to bring him to the Mavs.

Actually each state has different rules regarding the threshold that requires filing taxes for time worked. Some states also have reciprocal agreements between each other. While the wealthy will often establish residences in TX or FL to avoid paying state income tax, they must be able to prove that they spent a certain amount of time in said state to fulfill the residency requirement per the IRS. My company’s CEO has an office in Miami strictly for this purpose and he is required to work a certain number of days in Miami, even though our HQ is in the DC area.
