Hey genius: We don’t have 6 million people EMPLOYED in the D-FW metro area…that’s how many people LIVE here, including all those non-working minors (lazy bums.) So I think the ratio is a bit more than one in 24.

Dallas Alice — Indeed, the ratio of public sector to private sector employees is even more appalling.
But I find having one government employee for every 24 people likewise disturbing.

A lot of those local government employees are certainly teachers. Would like to take those out of the number, since I think that’s necessary work. Wonder what all those state workers are doing….

Many of them are also police officers and fire fighters as well as teachers. I suppose if they are nurses and doctors who work for a county hospital, they are also government employees.

Also doesn’t count the thousands working for defense and aerospace contractors in the area (Lockheed-Martin, Bell Helicopter, Raytheon, etc…)

But government “jobs” aren’t really jobs – at least according to the new RNC chair in an interview on This Week. I’d be interested to know the view of the FBI, State Troopers, etc. who work in Texas on that little gem.
