Verne Troyer Makes Me Sad

The obvious joke would be to say, “Oh, how the mighty have fallen … and he didn’t have far to fall.” But this screengrab of one-time Arlington resident Verne Troyer on Britain’s Celebrity Big Brother makes sympathy inch above snideness. If you’re wondering, dressing up as a teddy bear and eating honey out of a pot was not his idea.

  1. Britain’s Celebrity Big Brother never ceases to amaze and repulse me. It’s like they saw the Extra’s Christmas Special and thought, “You know, Ricky Gervais is right! We could make this show even more humiliating and dehumanizing! Someone get the little person a bear suit!”

  3. I believe Mr. Troyer’s character is Winnie the Pooh. I’m assuming he was paid well for this.

  5. You must have missed Verne’s appearance on VH1’s The Surreal Life where he wheeled around on his scooter drunk and naked, only stopping to relieve himself while he still sat on the scooter.

  6. I think his career took a nosedive after Chris Arnold picked him up like a two-year old during his 1310 The Ticket late morning show. Troyer’s handlers specifically told all to not pick him up. Oops.

  7. I miss the big temple, the trickle of delicious warm beverage, the pageantry…

  8. A friend of mine saw him in Vegas and said Verne wasn’t even as tall as knee-high. My friend is maybe 6 feet tall. It would be very bizarre to see someone that short/ tiny.

  9. It’s amazing what some people will sign up to do for money! Don’t feel sorry for the has-been celebrities involved as they are all getting paid.

  10. The best media observation on this comes from today’s Dlisted. Yes, Michael K. rules!

“It’s like my Teddy Ruxpin doll came to life and isn’t happy about it. If you pull his cord, he’ll say, ‘F******k offfff!’ Verne also looks like a depressed PedoBear without a prostitot to look at. This is sad….in a totally hilarious way.”
