FrontBurner® has been called the best blog in Dallas (repeatedly), a snarky celebration of ignorance, and a daily conversation about Dallas among the editors of D Magazine.

Why does the DMN have an editorial board? It's a civic-minded thing: Keeps the Dallas School Board from being the city's biggest dumbasses and if I am censored the city's biggest methanebrains.

When I was on the editorial board at the Times-Herald, we voted on all major policy decisions and officeholder endorsements. But the publisher had to vote first. Happily, all of our decisions seemed to be unanimous.

Is Hearst about to aquire Belo? KING in Seattle (Belo broadcast station) broke report yesterday on Seattle P-I (Hearst) closing and is the only one with sources reporting this. Rumors running today among media types in Seattle about how KING is the only outlet to confirm this center around Belo being aquired by Hearst. This would forcing Hearst to shut down (or divest, unlikely in this environment) the P-I due to cross-ownership rules for TV/print properties. Only source for this info would be through Belo. Discuss.

Because they need somewhere to store the peanuts.

BTW, the Seattle P-I may no longer be for this world, and Seattle will be a one-horse town:
