FrontBurner For Your Ears (Sorta): Kiddie Edition

I could post a picture I just took of an orange-crowned warbler, but I’m not in the mood to get blasted by anti-birding comments. Instead, I put forth a (poor quality) video I took of two of my five perfect nieces, Mia and Katie, who sat on my couch and, unprovoked, burst into song singing (a capella) “Tape of Love” by Flight of the Conchords. To me, it was just one of the many special moments in our family holiday season. To you, it may just be a waste of time. But here goes. Ladies and gentlemen, two of my five perfect nieces. (Hi, LK!)

  4. I could have used some fresh warbler in my black eyed peas but the leftover ham from Christmas dinner worked just fine. I crushed some ‘07 vintage pecans for the birds and got 4 more species. Woohoo, suburban NW Austin boring bird ville just netted 4 more species. Now I have Starlings.

  5. I vow to send more positive feedback in 2009 about your birding photos and comments. I LOVE THEM and miss them when you take a break for whatever reason. Readers who complain about that must be wallowing in the all the bad news of late. Let them wallow. Your birds unfailingly give the rest of us something to smile about.
