There’s buzz downtown this morning that the Dallas Regional Chamber is about to name Jim Oberwetter, the former Hunt Oil executive and ambassador to Saudi Arabia, as its new president. If it’s true, it is very good news for Dallas. Oberwetter is a listener, a reformer, and a great negotiator (I know this because he is also my former college roommate). Unfortunately, he is also very tight-lipped (even with former college roommates). But because I know his skills better than most, I can say that he is exactly the sort of person I had in mind when I wrote this open letter to Chamber chairman Bob Chereck in September. I hear the Chamber board will meet this morning to discuss. Developing…
Oberwetter may be the most honest, most decent, kindest man on the planet.
Publicnewssense is right on. Didn’t Pappy Perot test JO’s values when he ran for office and it blew up in RP’s face?
All of the above statements are so true about Mr. Oberwetter… and his values are above reproach…Not to mention that he is one of the best speakers I have heard.
He was the speaker at our Les Femmes du Monde Woman of the Year Award dinner honoring Dee Wyly….I was so mesmerised with his subject and with his delivery…
He will be a great asset to the Chamber and the City of Dallas. Kudos to the person who thought of selecting him. Well done
