1. The DISD trustees did not extend the contract of Superintendent Hinojosa yesterday. His contract runs through 2012, same as mine. He recently took a 5 percent pay cut, same as I did. He makes more than $300k a year — not sure where I’m going with this.
2. Former Mayor Ron Kirk is being vetted by the Barack Obama transition team for a possible Cabinet-level position. I think this is a shrewd move. Kirk was a great mayor and would be a great choice to lead HUD or the Department of Transportation. And, yes, I’m openly campaigning for a job as his press secretary.

It’d be great to see Kirk in DC, but wouldn’t we miss him around here?!
Your definition of “great” must be different than mine.
Kirk went along and so got along. Great!
Wait, Tim, that can’t be right about Kirk! Back in May, I asked him whether he would accept a cabinet position under a President Obama, and he replied: “No! I’m through with government jobs. I’d rather be the president’s best friend.” Sort of makes you think you should never believe what a professional politician says.
Kirk lied! Glen cried!
I can’t see Kirk turning down a White House position if it’s offered to him. Those opportunities don’t come around every day.
Those opportunities come around every day if you can afford the price tag.
Especially in Illinois.
Well Kirk should work out a lot better than Alphonso Jackson.
Secretary of Toll Roads through Parks and Levees? Awesome.
Would they let us keep Kirk and send them Dwaine Caraway?
I will trade them John Wiley Price for Ron Kirk. That would make for some entertaining C-Span, I tell ya.
