Too bad that it feeds into Hill and BA. That's why we're not there anymore...mostly why, anyway.

Hexter is proof that parental involvement pays off. I don't even live in the neighborhood and Hexter parents get me to give them money every year for art and music education.

From Lee (recognized) to Mt Auburn (recognized - 1 point short of exemplary) to Bonham to Lipscomb (both exemplary for many years) to Sanger (exemplary) to Stonewall (Blue Ribbon) to Lakewood (Blue Ribbon) to Hexter (next Blue Ribbon), East Dallas has excellent elementary schools. And of course we also have some superior secondary schools (Woodrow mock trial team leaves for Harvard Friday).

As a Hexter parent of 4 children that have attended or currently attending Hexter, what a great honor. It is all due to our terrific principal Jolee Healy. Hexter is a success story for our neighborhood and DISD!

Just goes to show that great teachers and schools can escape the damning clutches of Hinojosa and Lowe. Keep on truckin!

Hexter rocks. The community involvement is off the charts in our 'hood, and it makes all the difference. We've been involved in the Early Childhood PTA for about 2 1/2 years, and my daughter is only 3! This is the norm for parents in our great neighborhood, keep it up! Robert T. Hill is next!

Here, Here Tim and Hexter teachers!

A week ago, I spent an entire day as ‘guest teacher’ at my DISD alma mater, James Bonham Elementary (Exemplary honoree) on Henderson (between Old Monk and Louie’s for you lush sorts). This K-3 grade school was endearing (props to teacher Margaret Ross and principal Sandra Fernandez) and I plan to spend a day with the other two 3rd grades and to be very active in DISD career days across the city in 2009 as I was in 2008.

It truly helps to see education and the DISD from the inside out rather than posturing how dreadful (you assume them to be). I left that day feeling good about a lot of things, and worried about others but determined that we respect and support the (yes) underfunded DISD schools. They 1) Deserve our support and 2) What’s the alternative?
