The last bookstore next to chili's failed quickly. NO MORE NAIL SALONS - my gosh. They need a little independant farmers market or fresh meat, veggie and cheese type market. Also a Chipotle, and Paciugo, and most important OPEN The movie theatre back up with art/independent films. Why won't the the Landmark group that owns Magnolia and inwood buy it. It would be perfect!

CSTRO- There was a bagel place in Casa Linda and it went out of business some years ago. I can't recall the name. It might've have been an Einstein's, but it was some chain. It was in the spot where Bonnie Ruth's is now.

Also, anyone remember the breakfast/brunch restaurant that used to be where Fat Daddy's is? I don't recall the name of that place either, but it was nice to have a breakfast place in the neighborhood.

EJ-as a local some good ideas! As for greek food why drive to North Dallas when Kostas is right on the doorstep (approx. Greenville and Yale). Not the best of decors, but good honest authentic food (love the avgolemono soup!). How about a southern branch of white rock coffee or an off-shoot of curiosities??

anyone up for an Einstein's bagels? Runners on east/south side of WR would appreciate it, not to mention anyone driving into Dallas for work.

Agreed that Albertsons does not cut it-- two nearby Whole Foods are coming soon...

Lastly, a place to buy wine would be amazing.

24 Hr. Fitness is already gone. Shame.

I think it's only marginally successful because there are no real user friendly stores in there. I think single people and families would like a bookstore. I think an ice cream place would be cool. The TCBY on Mockingbird is ALWAYS busy. It's the closest ice cream place around.

Take out the Metro PCS, Souper Salad and Palm Beach Tan. If you want people to spend money, put in stores people will actually go to.

More kid places in the area! Fat Daddy's is very kid friendly and parent friendly (free beer), but another eats place like Purple Cow would be great. How about an activities spot like Pump It Up...

I read on BackTalk that there's a new Lovers Pizza opening @ Mockingbird & Abrams. They must be doing well.

You East Dallasites are such delusional dreamers!

Trader Joe's opening in Casa Linda? That's hilarious. Why would they go into a marginally successful shopping center that's not convenient to the rest of the DFW area? Ain't gonna happen.

And they've been using that warehouse/distribution facility as an excuse for at least 10 years. If they wanted to move into our market, they could have a long time ago. I inquired about a Dallas store while in Maryland about 5 years ago, and some regional manager told me that they couldn't find a good location for the facility. I just laughed and realized that it was a bunch of bull.

As pretty much a lifelong resident of over 50 years, I concur with EJ. Good ideas. Wouldn't the old Mobil station have been a great location for an ice cream place? But we really did need another bank.
