Recession Watch: Oil Under $50 Not Good For Texas

The price at the pump may be good for your wallet. But high oil and gas prices kept Texas afloat as the economy declined during the last nine months. Brett Clanton of the Houston Chronicle looks at the future for Texas and sees a lot of hurt.

  2. There may be more pain coming our way, but I look at it this way. We held it off as long as we could with the diversity of our income base.

    With all of the large corporations that are announcing layoffs, a lot more people will be affected since many companies have backoffice sites in DFW and especially near DFW.

  3. One more reason why cheap oil is bad (and not only for Texas): bigger and slower traffic jams.

    Is it just my impression, or was the traffic situation better couple months ago?

  5. You folks don’t have to worry…..now that I will be in the White House, I will get the price of oil back up in no time, as well as everything else. I plan on rivaling Jimmy Carter when talking about inflation highs in our country. Stay tuned.
