Will Lutz is the long-time conservative political observer who publishes the subscription-only Lone Star Report. He allowed TexMo’s Paul Burka to republish this piece of pertinent advice to the Texas GOP. Bottom line: a house built on lobbyists and earmarks is a house built on sand.

    WRONG. WRONG.

    How many times must it be repeated? The majority of Americans are for keeping abortion LEGAL and SAFE.

    Additionally, “low taxes” combined with “let’s star a war” is now recognized to be foolish beyond belief–and destructive to boot.

    Keep singin’ this tune, Will. I hope the Repubs listen to you. That way we Dems will pick up Texas, to go with the other formerly-Republican states we picked up on Nov. 4.

    i would agree though you seem to imply that those two will always be part of republican strategy. I think we’re done with the war part. And while we would like low taxes and the govt to leave us the hell alone so that we may freely prosper (or fail) we would be satisfied with the 40% (soon to be 49%) of you not paying taxes to just chip in a bit.     Matt, you want someone making $8000 to pay some taxes….why? So you’ll feel better? To punish them for being “failures”? OK. How much do they have to pay to make YOU feel better? $50? $100? $1000?

    Don’t you think that if someone is struggling to get by on $8k/year, they probably have other priorities–like, uh, food–that the money is better spent on?

    They’re broke. You’re not. Get over it. Count your blessings and do your part.
