Jeeze, that looks like a mistake a Mite-level goalie might make.

Had our offense scored more (against their backup goalie) Turco wouldn’t have been in that position. When Stars win, it’s a team. When Stars lose it’s Turco’s fault?

Man, where’s Craig Ludwig when you need him?

When Turco pulls an idiot, bonehead play like that, yes, it is his fault that they lost.

I’m with JS on this one. If he gives up a goal on a poorly defended breakaway, or the opposing team knocks home a third or fourth rebound, then I’d say it’s a team game and it’s not entirely his fault. But, when the Dallas Stars, which has looked like my 5th grade open tryouts team lately, holds an opponent to 1 goal in 59 1/2 minutes and he pulls that dinker? Well, then it’s his fault they lost. And I think, seeing how he has handled things like this in the past, he would be the first to tell you so.

Turco did admit it was a mistake to go over the middle. When you have a goaltender who is such a strong puck handler it is always a possibility. He played a great game and made a costly mistake. If he would have been able to throw the puck over Marleau and start a breakaway that the Stars scored on, we would have said he was a genius.
@Kirk: the backup goalie was riding a 2 game shutout streak coming in and in 4 games played he has a GAA of 1.00 and a save % of 96%. Not exactly a pushover.

Forget Ludwig. Where’s Craig Hartsburg when you need him?

FrontBurner® launched in March 2003, the first blog in Dallas run by a media organization. This is where the editors of D Magazine come to waste a tremendous amount of time.
