Oh, they're shape-shifting. That part's important.

Let it sink in, people.

It was at the Goat that a scary-looking biker, for whatever reason, took a shine to yr. corresp. and lectured me, at length, about the several species of outer-space reptiles that have infiltrated our fine species incognito. They live in vast underground networks with entry points in the polar regions; also, they live in the moon, which is actually a surveillance craft. Ever notice how you've never seen the other side of the moon? We both nodded, musing at the simple profundity of it -- the ineluctability of what we now knew. The scales were falling from my eyes as he assumed an almost fatherly stance -- it was a rite of passage, and the pain and exultation of it appealed to the tender side of this brawling, jailhouse-tattooed man.

George W. Bush was from one of the lizard-races. And Bill Clinton was from the same one. I forget much of the rest of the narrative, as it was six or eight years ago, and he was buying me rounds, which followed one another faster than you can say Live To Ride.

Have taken many friends to the Goat for a drink (experience) before picking kids up at parents night out at Gaston YMCA. They make a great apple-tini. Suggest an oxygen mask when entering. Worth a visit.

I was told by a teacher I know really quite well that it was open at 8:00 on a snow day, when school closed and she and some other teachers wanted bloody mary's. She said the bloody mary's were good too.

The band was indeed way, way too loud, but they were not awful -- they were pretty damn good. Professional-level musicianship; they knew what they were doing and had decent chops. But very. LOUD.

Since this is my neighborhood. (I live next door in the Power Property)
The band was run by the owner's husband. And it was loud sometimes but they were usually really good. And you haven't lived until you have seen Mexican Elvis. He was just awesome.

The Goat is full of all sorts of people. Most of them really nice. The staff makes a point to know people. It might not be hipster which is really OK. But it is an ok neighhood bar.

That's what I was afraid of. I knew he couldn't have meant that hipsters hang out there, but I was holding out hope that it wasn't that they had closed.

Uggh that is awful news...

Drew - I think Bob was stating that Brothers has also closed due to taxes. I remember reading that in the comments of 1st & 10.
