Ron Kirk Is Not Royce West
I’m over here reading the Observer’s take on the Dem victory party. Something struck me as odd. It was this:
Former Dallas mayor Ron Kirk and other local Democratic officials took the stage and led the crowd in triumphal cheers of “Yes, We Can!” and “Yes, We Did!”
I’ll be the first to admit that I’d had a few too many pint glasses of hope last night. I know how mistakes can happen. But State Senator Royce West up there leading the chant. DA Craig Watkins was up there, too. But Ron Kirk? He was in Chicago last night.

Update to the update: On this historic day, what else should we be doing other than bickering about where Ron Kirk was last night? To set the record straight, Ron Kirk was not in Bishop Arts last night. Nor was he in Chicago, as Big Bob points out. He was, however, at Gilley’s. When I called Ron Kirk’s office to confirm his whereabouts last night, the woman on the phone said, “That’s weird. Someone else just called with that same question.” We’ll have to call this one a draw, Robert.

I thought I saw Kirk at a Dallas party last night on TV. I’m pretty sure it was the Obama party in Dallas.
The guy in Chicago last night was Obama, the one that got elected president.
An official with the Dallas Dems confirmed that Kirk was in Chi-Town last night.
In response to the person who asked the inappropriate question that I just deleted: yes.
The bottom line is even if he was in Dallas he was not the one leading the cheers. Not sure that would be his style to do that anyway.
I suppose that a joke in the nature of a general similarity of appearances would be (i) inappropriate and/or (ii) not funny?
Bottom line is it seems everyone was too drunk/euphoric (including Ron Kirk himself, clone, hologram, or otherwise) to know where they were who who was there with them…

It is sad that alcoholism is not a treatable disease.
The most telling difference between Royce West and Ron Kirk is that Kirk is a lot cheaper to retain as your counsel.
