An official with the Texas Education Agency confirms the rumor I heard earlier today: TEA Commissioner Robert Scott is coming to Dallas Friday to meet with DISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa. The official word is only that the 3 o’clock confab is “to discuss the district’s current financial situation.” One presumes there won’t be much laughing and back slapping.
Maybe he’s going to tell Hinojosa that the state is taking over the poorly run, poorly performing district. Couldn’t do any worse.
Heart-to-Heart? How about stake in the heart?
We lost 15 teachers at Woodrow and 13 at J.L. Long Middle. 700 WW students will have their schedules changed tomorrow. Parent and alumni volunteers are being put into place to help out.
On a brighter note, Woodrow has 32 AP scholars this year…
LakeWWWooder,
Could you guys get a group down to Ross Ave. for a little picketing around, say, 3 p.m.? A little media dust-up on the sidewalk may help your cause.
I’m sure slimey Hinojosa will squak through this meeting (probably by vowing to donate an extra 1% of his salary to the cause). Too bad the TEA commisioner can’t see the B/S coming out of Lowe, Flores, etc…
Never trust a school superintendant who sports an outdated mullet.
Regarding Hinojosa’s pay cut… While listening to the radio on my home commute, the comment was made that his 5% “self imposed” pay cut only amounted to about one-half of his recent performance bonus. His annual salary never came into the picture. If the man possessed even a minimal amount of character or dedication to his profession he should have taken a 50% pay cut from his base salary.
I am thankful that my school taxes go to the R.I.S.D.
