Coffee Cup Poll Says Obama In A Landslide

OK, we’re falling for this shameless publicity stunt from Dallas-based 7-Eleven, just because it’s sort of timely and interesting. The photo shows 7-Eleven’s Rick Wilshe with the two major-party “presidential candidates” at the 7-Eleven at Hillcrest and Northwest Highway yesterday, when the company kicked off its third Coffee Cup Poll. Customers choose to pour their favorite beverages into either a red cup for McCain or a blue cup for Obama; results are then tabulated at each store’s register and fed into a system that tracks them nationwide, on a daily basis. The countrywide results after one day: Obama’s thumping McCain by 57% to 43%. Heck, the Dem’s even winning in Texas.

  1. Obama’s coffee will make you stimulated,
so you want stutter through the day at work like Obama’s speeches without a telepromter.

Will Obama’s coffee have a tax on anyone making
    over $45,000?

  5. how many visits has Wick made there? just wondering.

  6. Considering I vote, but don’t drink coffee, I’m feeling under-represented. Now, if they had Slurpee cups for each candidate, I’d be balancing out Wick’s visits.

  7. Most of my Mexican friends back in Ohio and other same day voting states have already voted for Obama or will be which just shows how egotistical and stupid John McCain is. As tight as this race was all he had to do was keep to his pro immigration reform position and he maybe could have had his fair share of them too on top of his regular Republican voters. But that just shows you what trying to be all things to all people will get you. He should have stayed on the right side of the issue from the beginning.

  8. 1. Since 7-Eleven doesn’t have stores in all 50 states, much less every city, the results are meaningless.

    2. Since there is no correlation between coffee drinkers and voters, the results are meaningless.

Otherwise, the results are totally meaningful.

  9. Guys, cancel the victory parade. Sam’s right. 7-Eleven has fooled me again. But their coffee is so good. Argh. Why must everything be so difficult?

  10. Can I get a cup if I just want water? I’m trying to drink all the water I can … before Obama starts taxing it. Yes, that’s right, Wolverine, you heard it here first. Now commence to disseminatin’.

Oh, also, Obama has three testicles and he and Michelle were married in a, quote, Extra Special Secret Sinister Witch Goat-Sacrifice Ceremony for Witches, unquote.

Prove it’s true? Well, you just now read it, didn’t you? So of course it’s true.

  12. Sam Merten: In defense of this admittedly silly poll, it accurately predicted Bush over Gore by 1% in 2000 and had Bush beating Kerry in 2004, 51% to 49%.

  14. Yeah, and the Obama figure looks like Nipsy Russell. [GENE RAYBURN: Which still won't prevent him from levying a tax on your ... BLANK.]

What?! Republicans don’t ever fill up their car with gas or buy sodas or coffee? Man, that’s news to me. I thought that was kind of a universal thing that really didn’t run down party lines. I guess there’s a secret Republican convenience store we all don’t know about. Hmmmm.

Sorry. I just like the idea that we can now add the “liberal 7-11″ to the pantheon of “liberal media” and “liberal Hollywood.”

  20. That’s right, RedCups – McCain supporters prefer to pay $3.50 for a cup ‘o joe.

  22. @RedCups: You’re right. I have always made it a point to avoid more right-wing convenience stores, such as the Tiger Mart on Mockingbird and Greenville. And you’ll never find me setting foot inside a Circle K. It’s like a Young Republicans meeting.

    @ 4:26 pm on October 2, 2008
  23. I wonder what the name of the conservative convenience store would be?

Speaking of checking stuff, I wish that before anything, the person who posted that Youtube video had checked their spelling of the candidate’s name. I’m pretty sure Military Living Quarter Obama is not the Democratic candidate.

But as far as the shortage of red cups, it’s obviously the liberal gas station bias rearing its ugly head.

    @ 4:46 pm on October 2, 2008
  28. You know why the Red Cups are gone?

Because the people who bought red cups paid for them with their own money. While the blue cup riff-raff customers were waiting for Lord Obama to tax fellow citizens to give them a “FREE” drink.

  29. I like the well-reasoned, thoughtful debate we have going on now.

I’d like to give you a link to a mainstream media organization, but they don’t seem to like printing stories that are harmful to Dear Leader. Here’s one from Fox News though, yes i know, try not to freak out too much. And here’s a couple more just for the heck of it. And just for the rcord, Patterico is well known and respected in the conservative blogosphere.

  43. We have one seven/eleven in Wylie. I went out of my way, all the way across town even, to buy a blue cup of black coffee. I got to pay three prices for it too, $1.50.

There were a couple of red cuppers in there when I grabbed my blue cup. Them boys had the deer in the headlights look if I’ve ever seen it. I guess they were listening to the stock market reports earlier. Finding fantasy rich isn’t near as fun as real poor has to be a shock to the system.

I did notice that they had plenty of Bradley cups in there. Those are the standard 7-11 cups for those who have public commitment issues.
