FrontBurner® has been called the best blog in Dallas (repeatedly), a snarky celebration of ignorance, and a daily conversation about Dallas among the editors of D Magazine.

Is there any way to keep the DMN from littering my lawn with this "briefing" tripe every day? I get my news via the interwebnets. Who needs some news "briefing" that's probably just a bunch of regurgitated wire stories anyways? Anyone have John McKeon's address? I have some garbage I'd like to throw in his lawn.

Tell me if I'm overstating this: Belo and it's publications are becoming only marginally relevant in Dallas. I've long felt/suspected it, and I have no hard evidence. But you'll notice that I posted the first reaction to the Quick notice at 9:47 a.m. It's now nearly five hours later and I'm posting the sixth reaction. What if Belo has reduced itself time and again until it is, in fact, no longer worth noting. Maybe the Belo Boys should care that no one cares about them anymore.

It's a long-standing DMN rule that stories about internal changes that appear in print or on their Web site all run with the "From Staff Reports" byline. This goes for everything from Belo stock announcements to newspaper/web layout changes - even staff reductions.

I can't resist the opportunity to post a link to the definitive assessment of scare quotes, as published in the long-lamented Suck magazine, ca 2000:

Excuse me? Quick and "expansive coverage" in the same sentences is surely a joke. Have you ever seen a Quick story that was more than about 7 paragraphs?
