FrontBurner® has been called the best blog in Dallas (repeatedly), a snarky celebration of ignorance, and a daily conversation about Dallas among the editors of D Magazine.

I know McAlley. I'm proud to say he's my friend. He is indeed a cross between the most interesting man in the world, and Forrest Gump. Wait till he writes about his moment with Mariah Carey.

I've had the pleasure of sharing many an espresso with John at Starbucks. He's the most unassuming, least pretentious bad-ass I've ever met. Chicks dig it.

I have it on excellent authority that John McAlley keeps office hours weekdays at the West Village Starbucks, where, over steaming cups and stale pumpkin loaf, he hosts regular salons for Dallas’s many men of letters (that is, hectoring notes from the IRS, Mothers Against Deadbeat Dads, and Day Traders Anonymous) who congregate there. The robustly employed are welcome, as well, so long as they adhere to the dress code (flip-flops, cargo shorts, “hammeRED” tee from the Gap) and are willing to join in the group greeting, “I would rather be with you than with the finest people!” Adam?

He's an amazing writer and one of the coolest cats I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Renaissance man meets rock star Casanova. Kind of an intellectual version of the "most interesting man in the world" character. A true Dallas asset.

Where ya been, Adam? John is the former arts and entertainment editor at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He came here FROM Entertainment Weekly. He was here for roughly two years, 2004-2006 if I recall right. I still see him at movie screenings all the time. And I love the part in the Beck profile where John talks about having a comfortable flight from the Netherlands to Switzerland -- or was it the other way around? -- while Beck and family schlepped their way on the tour bus.
