The most telling piece of Hash’s post is this sentence: “This colleague went on to argue that we didn’t know whether any big-time media outlets, like either Times (New York or LA version) or the Washington Post or the broadcast networks, pursued any or all of the Edwards story.”

It’s sad that less than 10 years ago, the DMN would have been considered an influenetial, if not big-time media outlet…. now its own editorial board members are casting themselves as second-class journalism citizens.

It’s a shame he didn’t analyze his own employer’s bias in it’s reporting on the downtown real estate market. The Trinity River Toll Way and the Convention Center Hotel being prime, recent, examples of this bias.

For what it’s worth, I think the MSM’s reluctance to report on the Edwards’ affair has more to do with the icky personal nature of the entire thing. The media has become less and less willing to report on the unsightly personal affairs of public officials, unless there’s cops or minors, or the same sex involved of course.

The fact that his wife is going to die of cancer probably doesn’t help the media get the bad taste out of their mouth for reporting on it.

it’s not biased reporting as much as it’s lazy-ass reporting and a lack of gumption from over-paid, desk-jockey, baby-boomer, middle-management editors like Hashimoto who are afraid to step outside the box and be the first publish something controversial, which is what true journalists yearn for
