Let's set the policy aside for the moment.

The district said, "These procedures were developed as directed by Board policy by a committee of teachers, principals, and instructional support staff. Teachers were recommended by learning community executive directors, volunteered, or were nominated by the Coordinating Teacher Organization (CTO). The Board approved a new grading policy in March 2008, and the committee began its work in May after TAKS testing was completed. The work continued over the summer in preparation for Fall 2008 teacher training and implementation."

A Google of Diane Birdwell reveals she’s a high school history teacher.

The lesson here is, when you don’t get your way, call the media and damn the representative process.

Every issue deserves due process afforded by the representative system including an appeal component - from textbook adoption to teacher termination.

Towski, in differentiating between Lakewood and Lake Highlands, there's any easy question to ask: Are you a Wildcat or a Copycat?

Gosh, Tim. How come you haven't picked up on the church in Plano that was struck by lightening last night? There's a jab at Plano just waiting for you to take it.
Come on, your up... batta, batta, batta ...

I saw this on TV on Monday. I used to live in that apartment. The building they showed on TV was the one I lived in. I moved after they turned the apartments in to section 8 and Dominos refused to deliver anymore because of robberies. It was sad because I really liked living there. Nice apt. Good neighbors. Then it was all gone.

There was a big story about the complex in the Observer about the sketchy arrangement about how the apartments went low income.

Public school in the U.S.A. caters to the lowest common denominator, period. It's true you can move to Plano and have a less low lowest common denominator. It's still going to be lower than your kid's level. (Places like HP are, as everyone knows, de facto private schools with local property values presenting a considerable barrier to entry.)

Damn, I guess there's just no getting out of this "parenting" stuff.

Banish the popups forever. Use the Mozilla Firefox browser, and add the "AdBlock Plus" software to it. It's great to be able to actually read DMN articles without fighting with popups.

DMN's website has always been the worst in intrusive advertising, but that Dillard's ad goes beyond annoying and into the realm of "do not visit".
