Kudos to the city council in Garland, which showed some rare courage on the issue of banning cellphone use in school zones. When presented by the mayor with a measure that would have done that, the council just said no. Council member Douglas Athas summed up the opposition, asking why a law should be passed for which no problem exists. I was going to suggest Athas run for mayor, but he may have too much common sense to entertain the idea.
Amen, Glenn. I think our elected officials feel entitled to control our lives and feel justified because “we” elected them. Or somesuch…
Being distracted from driving while talking on a cell phone is not a problem? Huh. That’s got to be breaking news.
I’m assuming this comes from the same study that shows wearing a seat belt doesn’t increase the chance of survival in a car accident, right?

Good luck, kids.
Gbzz… oh, boy.. some academia wrote a study. We all bow down, huh? Be afraid. Let’s just forfeit all our civil liberties for some #@$%ing acadmic doing studies.
I applaud the councilman for using common sense instead of listening to the Jacks and Gbzzs of the world.
