“The Hard Lie” Goes National

Richie Whitt’s long look at the rift between The Ticket’s Mike Rhyner and his former Hardline cohost Greg Williams has popped up on Deadspin, the land of 10 million visits a month (language warning). Have to agree with the commenters over there: Greg’s skull-covered neckerchief is a bold choice.

  1. Great article. The snorting cocaine off the toilet seat of the Village Apartments men’s clubhouse bathroom -to- carrying a pistol in a shoulder holster at Northpark really makes the reader realize how messed up he really was. Or still is.

  2. It’s also refreshing to remember that though this whole story seems to have morphed into some male-centric soap opera, to most people living outside the North Central Texas area, it’s the story of a guy who looks like the guy from Yes, Dear who wears matching pirate wear, carries guns around the local mall and got fired from a local radio gig for doing blow. The End.

  3. I can’t stand The Ticket, but I pray for the day that ESPN 103.3 comes to its senses and hires Williams and dumps the catastrophe that is the Michael Irvin Show. Between losing Dan Patrick and adding Michael Irvin, my listening to ESPN Radio during the day has gone from an average of 5-6 hours/day to an average of zero.
