Lamar Smith has represented San Antonio in Congress for 21 years. Apparently in two decades the only thing he has learned is how to use meaningless, attention-grabbing gestures to win re-election. Yesterday Smith introduced a bill to amend the Constitution to impose the death penalty for child rape. Good work, Smith. Now, what about those deficits you’ve been running up?

wasn’t it just ruled that a similar law in Louisiana was unconstitutional, or am I confused?
Having lived in Rep. Smith’s “Tom DeLay-designed” district for a few years (mostly to the north and west of San Antonio), I’m quite familiar with these gestures. Good old fashioned fear mongering works every time. If only the good folks who keep sending him back to D.C. would read Wick’s posts, he’d be looking for a job on Jan. 20, 2009.
Wick seems to have caught the same tired-head toward the republican party that I have. After great expectations in 2000 and modest expectations in 2004, we are left with nothing but embarrassment.
You have to give old Lamar a break. He’s been too busy being Hollywood’s bitch. All his efforts have been going into bills allowing big media to hack into your computer and making MP3 players illegal.
Lamar Smith is retarded. Plain and simple. Listen to him speak for 5 minutes. Soon when the United States is being run by sane people, we will exile nut cases like Lamar who has been bitter since his mom stopped breast feeding him two years ago.
