Leading Off (6/20/08)

1. Here is a consequence of high fuel prices that will make Farmers Branch happy: legal and illegal immigrants, unable to afford high gas prices (or because contractors can’t afford to shuttle them to sites), are moving back to Mexico in large numbers.

2. Folks in Lake Highlands are still picking on P.T.’s, the poor little strip club that couldn’t sell alcohol. They think that as the club continues to lose appeals to sell liquor by the drink, it will eventually shut down because it can’t make enough money just on people paying to see naked girls. I respectfully disagree.

3. A 49-year-old Terrell woman is accused of beating her 93-year-old female neighbor into a bloody mess to rob her. In related news, if guilty, she also successfully punched her ticket to hell.

  1. I’m not sure where to get news of this, but my Casa View 7-11 looks like it had it’s atm stolen. three cop cars, helicopter and busted window this morning at 6:15. I hope the people who work there are ok.

  2. I think the U.S. is acting like pre-WWII Germany by raising the price of gas so high illegal immigrants can’t afford to buy it. Racists.

  5. Without illegal immigrants to hate, Tim O’Hare will feel empty inside. I’m sure as we speak he’s praying to Jesus to keep the illegal immigrants in North Texas so he can have the pleasure of denying them a room at the inn.

  7. Actually, I couldn’t care less about the illegal immigration topic. It just seems that whenever an immigration topic is posted on this blog, the “Farmers Branch is Nazi Germany” crowd comes out in force, then a couple people come out in support of the ordinance and the ensuing conversations are very entertaining.

Just trying to fuel a fire between lemmings so I can have something to do on a slow Friday afternoon.

  8. I don’t think they’re Nazi Germany. I just think it’s fiscally irresponsible to spend the city’s money on legal fees for something that may get shot down in court. Let another town (and there are a few out there already trying it) pay for all that legal wrangling up toward SCOTUS, and then act without spending a penny.

    Really?

I wonder where you’ve been. I’m pro-illegals and my wife and me ride bikes. We’re not gay but we do love a gay man. He’s our son, won’t ride a bike and doesn’t like illegals, go figure.
