Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick–whose term in office has been, well, let’s say troubled–has been under fire for traveling to Texas a few times for reasons he won’t disclose. His latest trip, which brought him to Dallas on Tuesday, was apparently so he could find a new bank for the city. From the sound of it, he probably shouldn’t have explained this trip either. The money quote:
“Kwame, God bless him, is not the most qualified guy in the city to check out financial institutions,” said Justin Moran, who worked with municipalities when he was a bank executive in Detroit. It’s ridiculous … the mayor of a major city has got specialists who deal with these things. It’s balderdash.”
