Dear Friends and Colleagues:
So many of you have inquired about Maureen since her accident and have sent good wishes our way over the past eight months. I want to thank you most sincerely for your concern. Maureen is a very determined woman, and is improving daily. We still have a long way to go, but the consensus among Maureen’s physicians is that they have rarely seen such an impressive recovery in a patient of her age with this type of traumatic brain injury. Thankfully, she has regained virtually all of her fundamental mental capabilities; now the task is to re-build cognitive skills.
When we go home — hopefully soon! — Maureen will be an outpatient five days a week for continued rehabilitation. She is fully engaged in managing her medical treatments and therapies. In recent months, she has made steady progress in her speech, strength and mobility. Maureen is even able to walk a short distance with a support frame and the assistance of her therapist.
Amidst these daily and taxing activities, she reveals her sense of humor and delivers truly funny one-liners on a regular basis. Our gentle, fun-loving Maureen is very much with us. We have a great group of caregivers on the field supporting Maureen and cheering her on. And the prayers, remembrances, and constant support that so many people have offered mean everything to Maureen, Audrey, William and me.
We’ll stay in touch.
Robert
Maureen is, indeed, gentle. Best wishes to her and her family. Thanks for the update, Glenn. Please keep us posted.
I woke up wondering how this woman was doing the other day. Why? Because her accident happened on Beverly Dr., and the recent press on Mockingbird reminded me that one person has already suffered because of traffic in HP.
I do not know Maureen, but it is wonderful to hear that she is recovering and keeping a sense of humor. Best to the family.
Maureen is indeed a lovely person. Her remarkable recovery from this devastating accident reflects her inner strength, the talents of Dallas’ medical community and the support of her family.
