A colleague here just told me she had to leave work to pick up her car. It got towed while she was at Chuy’s. She was a bit confused. “Apparently I parked on the wrong side of the alley?” she said with a question mark. (She was in the area by Fadi’s.) Chuy’s makes it clear which spots are Chuy’s spots. Cretia’s, before it went bye-bye (and even now) has explicit signs that its parking lot is not for La Cubanita. Same with Sushi on McKinney, if memory serves.
Can’t we all just park and get along?

ha! the last two times i have been over there, i had issues. last saturday a man actually screamed at my husband and i as we parked, saying we better not park in that f-ing spot or our car would get towed. what he didn’t understand is that we were not going to chuy’s we were, in fact, going to the designated establishment on the spot…THEN, i ate at la cubinita today and saw a plethora of empty spots in the lot behind, but no, i had to valet and give a guy a buck so that upon leaving i could walk past my car, get my keys and walk back to my car – seriously.
why all the hate around that area?
As bad as Knox is, it’s far worse on the Henderson side of 75. At least Deep Ellum had parking lots. It’s cheap replacement of an entertainment district has nothing but tow away zones.
As an ex-Knox Henderson resident, it’s not surprising that the tow gangstas are still alive and well after all these years.
Last week, when it was pouring rain and I hit up La Cubanita for lunch, I’m glad the kind waitress told me about the changes. Who looks 15′ up in the air for a no-park when it’s pouring down rain? I got drenched moving my car but it beats paying $150 to get my whip back.
I also found it stupid to be enforced since Cretia’s is closed.
I really don’t understand the whole Cretia thing. That is beyond dumb… almost as dumb as being forced to valet (unless you’re lucky enough to find a spot on the street) only so I can tip the valet for basically holding my keys. It’s faster for me to walk to my car myself than to wait for him to pull it up the 2 feet from where I’m standing.
The valet at La Cubanita for dinner was $5. I had to pay $5 for him to park my car 5 feet away from me. If it was complimentary valet, I would have less of a problem. But $5???!!!???
