that’s what happens when corporate ownership only sees the bottom line. the cuts they make in radio/tv/newspapers begin to effect the quality of said radio/tv station/newspaper.

I bet there’s 1/2 the staff doing twice the work and getting paid less then what they had 10 years ago.

This is off-the-subject but can anyone tell me why D mag is doing a cover story about Janine Turner? I didn’t even know she was still alive.

Isn’t there some other D-level DFW celeb out there who’s cover worthy?

I happen to know a Dallas guy who dated her and he confirms that she doesn’t like to drink or have sex, which makes the D Mag headline ironic, n’est pas?

I have ZERO respect for her and her struggle with single motherhood. Her baby daddy is the son of a billionaire. How tough can it be to hire a good nanny and buy your way into Hockaday?

I did not even know that was her when I first saw the cover… I just thought it was some cougar they had used as a model.

Nope, it’s for real. Rumor has it he finally met the child in person – last summer I think. Janine started “dating” Ferry’s best friend from back in the Arkansas Mafia days and he claims to have brokered the meeting between mom, child and father. Soon after said meeting, JT dumped Ferry’s friend. Go figure.

One suspects that the Channel 11 errors are committed in the same way that this time of year you see errors in magazines and newspapers: the senior staffers have been laid off and the interns are happily working cheap and blissfully ignorant of their role in the decline of America for the next two or three months.

Jeez, people. It’s LIVE television. Mistakes happen regardless of who is on duty. Go back to writing your e-mails about TPS reports and action plans.

As for the burning issue of Janine Turner’s (Gauntt back then) plump lips I can assure you she had very soft cushion-like lips and was an excellent kisser in high school (Boswell 1978 me a junior, she a freshman). Get a copy of that year’s yearbook, she was voted Most Beautiful.

Hate to say, but mistakes like this are common on all TV news shows – both local and network.

The best example was on Monday where I heard a network show refer to the new “Mars Phoenix Rover” saying that it was the first successful landing on Mars by NASA in 30 years. 1. It’s not the Mars Phoenix Rover, it’s a lander. It does not go anywhere. It just digs right where it is. 2. NASA has landed 3 spacecraft on Mars successfully in the past 11 years (Pathfinder, Spirit and Opportunity) – this was the first “soft landing” since the Viking probes. (in other words, on this one they used rockets to slow it down and ease it on to the ground instead of using airbags like they did for the other three I mentioned)

You can blame this on sloppy writing by people under a tight deadline who don’t understand the topic they’re writing about.
