The DMN just posted this news alert:
A federal judge has found a Farmers Branch ordinance banning apartment rentals to most illegal immigrants to be unconstitutional. U.S. District Court Judge Sam Lindsay issued a permanent injunction blocking the city from implementing the measure, Ordinance 2903.

How much do you want to bet that the city’s attorneys — working with anti-immigration, supposedly pro bono boneheads — will be submitting a new ordinance within 48 hours? And when that one is determined to be unconstitutional, they submit another one after that? Etc. Etc.
These folks have taken their cues from the “erosionary” tactics being practiced and developed to an art in Washington over the last seven years and six months.
If you let me rent an apartment, all your wildest dreams will come true.
It’s time for another round of Neocon Bingo! Here are your keywords: “Activist judges,” “Illegal means illegal,” “Congress isn’t doing it’s job, so we are,” “Enforce the laws,” “Build a wall,” “They aren’t paying taxes,” “Declining property values,” “Rise in crime,” “Overcrowded schools,” “Scott McClellan’s a traitor”
Post-injunction celebration will be held at Pizza Patron.
It’s time for another round of Liberal Bingo. Here is the only word they know: “racism”.
Why that judge must be from Mexico or something. Can he read Engish? No judge that Cheney would appoint would rule like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t Mess With Texas…cough, cough…..
I feel sorry for the residence at apartments
that have to leave with the illegal alien
“clown houses” where they stuff everyone in
one room.
Clarification: live, sorry
Too bad those pesky Americans keep on passing law after law, after law, after law, after law, after law! How dare they! What do they think this is, their country! The nerve of those Americans!
Farmers Branch is on the brink. Just like Oak Cliff was 30 years ago in 1978. The exact same set of circumstances that destroyed Oak Cliff and turned it into a cesspool of decay will happen to Farmers Branch if something is not done.
Both have similar circumstances:
-Elderly citizens who own their homes, pass away, children living elsewhere in Dallas turn it into rental property.
-Aging infrastructure and little tax base.
-Inexpensive cost of living.
Oak Cliff was rented out and abused like a $20 truck stop whore, destroying what was once a great neighborhood. Absolute destruction. No one can even dispute that. Driving down Jefferson Blvd in the early 80’s is much like a contemporary drive through Farmers Branch.
Don’t let the same thing happen to Farmers Branch. 30 years is too long of a wait to turn a neighborhood around.
Bill:
If the truck-stop whore raised her prices, would everything get better?
Bill:
I beg to differ, many parts of Oak Cliff have risen from the ashes. In the 80’s Oak Cliff was at its lowest point, but since then many people have been buying and remodeling the houses.I agree that the system needs to be fixed. The first thing is to learn english, some latinos try but some stay isolated and never try.If gas prices go to 10 bucks a gallon, you will see people pat top dollar for houses in Oak Cliff
I know of one Dallas neighborhood that was dead on its feet, empty shopping strips, kids grown and moved out, elders hanging on or headed for a condo. Then Hispanics moved in, started fixing up the houses. Shopping strips came to life. Mothers walking their kids to school, kids playing in front yards in the evening. It’s a real neighborhood again. Farmers Branch should be so lucky.
If a person entered this country illegally, then that person shouldn’t be here at all. Those who aid illegals while here should pay a heavy price for doing so and the illegals themselves sent back to their country of origin where they can then apply to come to this country legally. People who don’t have respect for this countries laws don’t deserve respect from this country.
Where is this wonderful neighborhood Bill M.? Seems odd that you would put it forth as an example and not say where it is. And Tom? If you’re going to make a comment mocking conservative keywords, you should probably refrain from using the liberal keyword “neocon”.
Ahem, I live in Oak Cliff…judging by my most recent tax appraisal and the amount of young families moving back, it is far from squalor.
Oh, and if you can’t stand those crazy illegals because it offends your conservative “values” (thank you 2000-2008), then I hope you’re picketing all of the businesses that are hiring them. You may not realize this, but they don’t come here just to sit on their hands and complain about long hours and low salaries like you do. If it were you, and you lived in a place that was filled with corruption/drugs/poverty, would you continue to raise your family there? and if someone was dangling a job/opportunity/a-chance-to-leave-squalor in front of your nose, would you take it? Honestly?
For what it’s worth, a pretty famous guy that most Americans worship just happened to be an undocumented refugee and migrant. His stance on how we treat “illegals” is pretty clear: Matthew 25:35-41
dallas is a hellhole
Most of the people who hire illegals in this country are conservatives.Thats why we’re building a huge border wall insted of giving huge federal fines to those people who hire illegals. If the jobs weren’t here they wouldn’t come.I’ll give you some areas of Dallas.Try North Oak Cliff, the area north east of SunSet high, areas around Woodrow Wilson.
You’re right, IG. Why, I live one block from Woodrow. It’s really awful. The three lawyers that live within 50 feet of me feel the same way. As does the pro athlete. As does the art dealer. And I’m sure our creative director, who lives in north Oak Cliff, can speak to how horrible that area is, especially Bishop Arts.
This subject is sooooooo old.
The federal government won’t do anything.
State, county and city governments aren’t allowed to because it’s a federal issue.
We can’t punish those who hire illegals because it would be a money suck to the economy and make an already rising inflation higher.
We can’t deport illegals because it would hurt their feelings.
We can’t put the illegals here on a path to citizenships because people complain that is rewarding illegals.
We can’t ask illegals to live by the same rules legal citizens do……because we don’t even know they are here. When we do, how dare us ask them to show two forms of ID to rent an apartment (like I have always had to do)
So, if nobody is going to do anything, let’s stop making it news. Repubs don’t want amnesty or punishment for those who hire. Dems don’t want deportation or accountability. Let’s do nothing.
Huh?
Do nothing and in 15 or 20 yrs those illegal’s kids will vote and make the choice for us.By the way, why did you leave a long comment if the subjest is soooo old.All those things you pointed out are what we call debate. It happens in a Democracy.Sometimes when your dealing with peoples lives the situation takes a long time to solve.

Sarcasm 1
Definition: A keen, reproachful expression; a satirical remark uttered with some degree of scorn or contempt; a taunt; a gibe; a cutting jest.
Dallas is a hellhole,
The term “neoconservative” was coined by Irving Kristol and given currency by Norman Podhoretz.
Of course, they’re not fat, balding, white DJs bellowing bile on the AM radio, so it’s unlikely you know who they are.
Huh
Sarcasm is hard to detect in written word when there are so many people who make comments exactly the way you did and aren’t one bit sarcastic. So I apologize, thanks for the definition.
I know the area around Woodrow Wilson well. There’s certainly some nice areas around there, care to explain how the saintly touch of hispanics has anything to do with it? From what i see, the area is nice in spite of, not because of, hispanics. I’m well aware of where the term neocon came from, but the only people who use it today are liberals. But thanks for showing that worldwide famous liberal tolerance, i’m sure all those fat, white dj’s appreciate it.
In fairness, not all them are fat … some, like Michael Savage, are merely lardy, and our own Mark Davis is admittedly trim.
Another thing they’re not is your grandpa’s idea of conservative. Aside from their utopian ideas about “spreading democracy,” they believe the federal government’s proper role should be to advance a social agenda. They’re like liberals at liberals’ worst, only with retrograde and exclusionary “values.”
And their goose is cooked, my friend. Good riddance to them.
hellhole
I thought this subject was on illegals not hispanics. But I get it,in the early 70s white people moved out of Dallas to find better schools for their kids. That’s code for “I don’t want to live next to hispanics or blacks”.The liberal druggy Rush uses neocon all the time.
Anyone who would choose to live in a city in Texas named Farmers Branch is either a red neck or a person looking to get their no white ass kicked. Many folks in in FB have that pasty, pale, Pentecostal look.
In regards to future voting in FB, the all-growns-ups Anchor Babies of Oak Cliff who were born in the early 80’s and could be considered 1st Generation Americans, do not vote. Few even graduate from high school.
Pretty sure Pete Sessions would never have been elected to his seat, if any of those uneducated clowns ever had their act together.
Bill — you need to check your Congressional District lines. Pete Sessions was elected because of the straight-party “R” voters of Richardson, North Dallas, Highland Park and University Park and Irving. Oak Cliff is a very small part of his district. As to the definition of clown, look it up — Pete Sessions’ picture is there.
HSH-More people live in Oak Cliff in the 32nd than Highland Park and University Park combined. People living in Oak Cliff do not vote. I think that in some prcts, there were more absentee ballots cast by dead people(thanks ACORN) than people-with-a-pulse on election day.
Bill, a link for that info?
Bill,
It’s been two hours now and we’re still waiting for your fact citations. We realize the MO of neocons is to throw out blanket numbers with no data to back up their bullsh!t, but after an unprovoked war based on this same type of made up scare tactics, we’re a little more interested in some truthiness from here on out.
xo,
America
white flight
Hispanics was the word Bill M. used. And there’s nothing in my comments about white flight, but i understand you had to get the obligatory accusation of racism in there somewhere, it’s all advocates of illegals have. I don’t listen to Limbaugh, or any talk radio, but the one in trouble is Air America, not conservative talk radio.
Bethany: Bill, a link for that info?
Ever heard of the United States Census?
http://www.census.gov/main/www/cen2000.html
Look it up by zip code. You can even throw in the SMU zip code for fun and the numbers slant more than 40%+ towards Oak Cliff in terms of population.
In addition, one should look up DMN articles on the redistricting issue between the 24th and the 32nd which covers the issue well. Frost vs Sessions. Hispanics demanded a larger area during redistricting even though they outnumbered any white voter in the new 32nd, 2 to 1. Hispanics fell on their sword and admitted that illegal aliens should not count on residential rolls for census numbers. That should be ignored and the redistricting should be based on registered voters only. Total BS.
I refuse to provide more of a link than that. I realize I am up against people who are professionally paid independent bloggers who are paid directly by MoveOn.org, LULAC and various Political Action groups of questionable background. I question the validity of manty of the comments posted here since so many are PAID a salary to do so as political operatives.
The last time I sat down and provided you with links, facts, evidence and information I was never given a response and an apology which I think was owed to me by people posting vicious racist comments.
Dallas is a hell hole
Dude you used the word hispanic 11:17 am. It’s right there where it say Dallas is a hell hole in bold.
these people get paid to make comments?,I’m a conservative who just likes to argue.Bill you sound a little angry and paranoid.I’ve become bored now, time to go play with my monkey.See you at the meetings Bill,Bill M,and Dallas is a hell hole.
Thanks Bill. I was just curious what you were basing the latter half of your statement on, that’s all.
And I’m not paid to blog, btw. If I was, my blog would have a claxon that would go off every time someone visited it, because knowing that happens would make me laugh. And I’d get a nickel every time I used the word vociferous, because I like that word. And I’d get a pony. Or a six pack of ice-cold Drop Top delivered to my desk promptly at 3 p.m. on Friday, whether I was done working or not.
That is what would happen if I was paid to blog.
Yes, i know i used it. The subject of that comment stems from Bill M.’s comment at 12:17 a.m. and he used the word hispanic.
Bill, here is the ethnic composition of district 32:
67.6% White, 7.9% Black, 4.2% Asian, 36.2% Hispanic, 0.6% Native American, 0.6% other
The majority of Pete Sessions consituents in Oak Cliff are in Kessler Park…here is the map: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:TX32_109.gif
If you are even minutely knowledgeable of the area, you’d know that KP is upper class WASP, and not minority.
And the whole paranoia about paid operatives by MoveOn.org…are you friggin’ serious?!?! YOU’VE GOT TO TURN OFF THE RIGHT WING RADIO…THAT SH!T IS SCRAMBLING YOUR BRAIN. People like you make me ashamed of our progress in humanity.
And DIAHH:
The reason why Air America fails is simple…liberals don’t need to hear someone reminding them why they should be liberals over and over again. I tuned into the station for one day and thought, “How annoying…I have no desire to have someone attempt to stroke my own personal philosophies”. For the other end of the political spectrum, they are in dire need of reassurance.
Air America is having trouble because liberal viewpoints are already well represented in the media, on the web and in popular culture. Conservative talk radio got started because their viewpoints weren’t being represented elsewhere, although it’s gotten a little better since then with Fox News and the web.
Dallas is a hell hole
relax,it’s Friday.Have a cigar or go fishing
(and if the FBI is monitoring,I’m not talking about fishing for credit card numbers).
Hellhole:
I live in that neighborhood — south of Walnut Hill, west of Webb Chapel.
