Dick Sutcliffe is likely an unfamiliar name to many. But those of us born before, oh, I’d say 1975 no doubt grew up with Saturday morning cartoons. And those of us who did searched all five or six channels available in vain on Sunday mornings for similar entertainment. The best we could find was Davey and Goliath, the Gumby-like animation show of religious parables. Sutcliffe was its creator, and I didn’t know until I saw in his obituary on Sunday that he lived in Dallas. (I also realized when I read his obituary that his daughter, J.T. Sutcliffe, was my pre-cal teacher in high school. I mean, I knew she was my teacher; I just didn’t know her famous-ish lineage.) He was 90.
watched Davey an Goliath and Jot(the little white ball character)every Sunday before church.Rest in peace Mr.Sutliffe.
And you watched it on “The Children’s Hour” which was on KXAS, Channel 5. They read the comics out of the Star-Telegram, which was kind of confusing to me.
I was going to ask about Jot, but greg beat me. All greatness and I am old enough to remember it on WPAP chn 5, pre KXAS. I know that mr Sutcliffe will rest well and thanks!
