Brian Loncar’s Prognosis = Good. Brian Loncar’s Bentley = Not Good.

brianloncarcar1.jpgAs you may have heard, attorney Brian Loncar was involved in a major accident on Friday when his car collided with a Dallas Fire-Rescue truck at the intersection of Lemmon Avenue and Lomo Alto Drive. A picture-taking FrontBurnervian was close enough to the scene to snap a photo of Loncar’s once-new Bentley. Now that there’s word of Loncar’s expected full recovery, I feel less skittish about posting the picture of the aftermath. Perhaps your reaction will be the same as mine: Yikes.

Yeah that is my reaction too lol YIKES!!!1 good stuff

  • Bill M.

A $200,000+ motorcar can’t stand up to a fire engine? No thanks. I’ll stick with my Jetta.

  • Spamboy

He’ll be back to pologamy in no time. Perhaps R.A. Gabriel can send him some flowers?

  • John M

Oh to be a fly on the wall when the city attorney’s office heard about this.

  • Wes Mantooth

This is what can happen when you cut the margins too thin on your ambulance-chasing. Then again, maybe this was intentional and he’s using his hospital stay to do some networking in a way that the State Bar can’t crack down upon. He’s crafty, that Brian Loncar.

  • NTHEKNOW

I heard he was chasing an ambulance and the fire truck came to the ambulance’s aid and tried to cut him off. Anybody else hear this?

  • Mark

Surprised it doesn’t happen more. Almost happened to me in front of the Fire Station at Hilcrest and Frankford, cheap ass Big D won’t pony up for remote light changers, not even in front of fire stations. Almost every suburb has them, even Van Alstyne where I liveb, but we only need 2.

  • Puddin'Tane

Does Loncar have whiplash? Can’t you just see the next commercial with him sporting a black eye and neck brace and saying,”I know your pain.”

    Tee Hee!

  • the cynic

actually, considering the Bentley was broad-sided by a fire engine then careened into another vehicle, it looks like the passenger cabin is in remarkably good shape. Me thinks there would only be pieces of your Jetta on the pavement to sweep up.

  • jrp

karma’s a beeotch, huh? let’s just hope loncar recovers fully and then have a nice long thread of ambulance-chaser jokes

can’t resist this one i heard the other day though: what do you get when you cross a bad politican with a crooked lawyer…chelsea clinton

  • Spamboy
  • skippy

Shouldn’t drivers stop for emergency vehicles, regardless of who has the light?
Isn’t that the point of having a siren?
Was he already in the intersection?

  • Jack Jett

While we all see the irony of Mr. Loncar being involved in an auto accident, perhaps one can take a second to remember that he is a husband, brother and son of someone.
He is a major donor to various creative outlets in the city. I don’t know the man, but I would like to wish him well and a speedy recovery and let him know his contributions are appreciated.

  • BLM

    Jack,

Here is more info so you can “know the man”:

I bear no grudge agasint Loncar personally, I wish him no ill, and I hope for him a swift and full recovery. But let’t not kid ourselves: Personal injury attorneys are pretty much the worst scumbags operating on this side of the law, and they’ve sapped way, way, WAY too much money from society in the past 25 to 30 years. Every single one of us pays a higher premium, on everything from insurance to bread, so that opportunists like Loncar can drive around in their Bentleys. So, let the comments about the delicious irony roll on, as far as I’m concerned. They are deserved.

  • Jack Jett

“pretty much the worst scumbags operating on this side of the law, and they’ve sapped way, way, WAY too much money from society”

I confused sedagive…..i thought the worst scumbags were Bush/Cheney/Miers/Iraq War…
They seem to be scumbags taking way too much money from society.

I just never knew that Brian Loncar was responsible for the price of bread. He is obviously more important than I thought.

  • sedagive

I don’t disagree with you on teh Bush administration. You may be right about them being worse than PI attroneys.

But if you don’t think a grocery store pays an increasingly higher insurance premium to protect itself from bogus slip & fall accidents pushed by PI attroneys, and that you and I don’t pay a higher price per loaf of bread because of it, well, you’re simply mistaken.

  • DA

The guy’s a snake, and like jrp, I’d like to think this was karma handing out a dose of payback. I would encourage every firefighter on that truck with “soft tissue injuries” (you know, the kind that don’t show up on X-rays or any other medically approved test but doctors bought and paid for by personal injury attorneys can miraculously find) to line up their own personal injury attorneys and keep the karma ball rolling.

  • sedagive

Every business in America that’s open to a personal injury suit (and due to the increased craftiness of PI attorneys, that’s almost every business in America) pays an enormous amount in liability insurance. So much so, and to such a great monthly expense, that it’s a major factor that keeps a lot of otherwise viable projects from ever getting off the ground. Depending on the business, liability insurance is often second only to rent in the start-up costs for a new company. It wasn’t always thus. People who are only familiar with their homeowners and auto insurance have no idea how much liability policies have gone up in the past 20 or 30 years. And when they do find out, who do they blame? The insurance companies, of course! Oddly, they rarely blame the PI attorneys driving the Bentleys. Personal injury litigation has thrown roadblocks up in all sorts of invisible ways in our society, mostly by diverting capital away from other, more worthwhile uses.

  • Bob

PI lawyers are scumbags–until YOU get hit by a grocery truck, or until YOU are the victim of a drunk doctor, or until YOU get screwed by your employer. Ever deal with an insurance company adjuster on your own for more than a broken taillight? Those are the times that you need the biggest sumbitch in town to fight YOUR battle for you. If they don’t get paid out of what they win for you, how are you gonna pay ‘em? Out of your retirement fund? Oh, wait, that’s gone now.

  • publicnewsense

Regarding your post, his car didn’t collide with the truck, the truck collided with his car. Big difference.

  • Bethany

the truck collided with his car which, according to the preliminary investigation, failed to yield to an emergency vehicle.

    http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/tv/stories/wfaa080516_wz_loncar.107c9db9e.html

  • CBS

Insurance companies must have the best markerter/PR folks around to be able to convince the population that lawyers are the cause for your higher premiums. This is the same as blaming lawyers and not Exxon for charging higher gas prices.

Don’t know Mr. Loncar, but sure wish him well.

  • Brian

I think truck means the Fire Truck. Lights on. Very Big. The photo looks confusing, If Mr Loncar was exiting from the tollway, well there you go. Worst intersection ever. cept the others ones…

  • Swimmer

Joking aside, Mr. Loncar has serious injuries that will require many surgeries and maybe months of physical rehab. Whatever he does to earn his money, he’s spent it on charities all over this city, and he’s a major contributor not only to his wife’s theater company, but to almost every other theater group in town. He has six kids who love him and a wife who is beside herself with worry. Lighten up, folks, and send a good prayer their way.

  • Zelda Rose

I hope he makes a full recovery, but I still want an explanation as to how he managed to ignore a fire truck with lights and siren on. Can’t wait to see how he blames DFR for this…

  • Jack Jett

Thanks Swimmer, that is the point I was trying to make. I assume that the negative comments and jokes about this man come from people who are certain they will never be in a situation that might require an attorney. We know how open and honest the insurance companies are. I think one person called it “karma bitch” and I assume this person knows that karma is not a one way experience.

  • Bethany

While I do feel for the guy, I also wonder what kind of call the fire truck was headed to when it hit him – and what costs – monetary or human – may have been incurred from the delay of that emergency personnel.

This is a lesson for everyone, really. It doesn’t matter what color the light is – if an emergency vehicle is coming through with its lights flashing, it has the right of way; don’t try to beat a yellow light (esp. when an emergency vehicle is barreling through the intersection); and pay attention.

  • jrp

that was me, jack, and i do understand karma giveth and karma taketh away, as in dude used to have his bentley, his firm and his health and now…not so much. hope he regains his health, may be able to continue to practice and can get another car. just saying i think this story defines irony if i know what irony means

and sad but true, but i’m sure we all have dozens of stories about seeing driver’s disregard fire/police/railroad crossings/school buses with the lights on and STOP sign extended/crossing guards crossing kids through intersections etc.

  • PuddinTane

[driver’s disregard fire/police/railroad crossings/school buses with the lights on and STOP sign extended/crossing guards crossing kids through intersections etc.]

That’s because the World revolves around them, but I think you already know that.

  • Neal

    Ditto Bob.

And all you “oh the delicious irony” people are pretty freakin scummy. Keep your malice to yourself and count your blessings that you weren’t the one in that car.

  • Mike

I think firefighters in general are overrated. Driving a cab or working at a convenience store is significantly more dangerous, just as vital to society and less lucrative. Dallas Fire and Rescue also does emergency medical services, which means about 90 percent of the calls they take are medical and they have to do a lot more training and do a lot more work. If Loncar brings a suit, they should in no circumstances settle.

  • Scott

LOL – Bill M., if Loncar had been in your Jetta, or any small econobox for that matter, he’d be dead.

Right you are, Neal. Would it have been even more ironic if it had been a chickens*** little insurance adjuster in a Malibu than an attorney in a Bentley?

Yeah, Loncar’s a scumbag, and everyone knows it. Do his charitable contributions offset that? Who knows, I doubt it – LOL

  • Annie

yall need to shut your mouths. Mr. Loncar is not at fault. Im tired of your costant bickering and jelous remarks. Loncar is not a scum bag, but he is a father, husband, son, and brother. When you who become the one who is in a car wreck I hope your rember saying KARMAS A BITCH cause Loncar deserves no such thing no one does. He has done so much for this community and it makes sick to hear some of your jokes you should pray for him, his family, and his friends.

  • Annie

oh and i am posotive that he is not at fault and those who think he was ambulance chasing is rediculous!

  • Loopy

    i agree with annie!!!

    P.S. poopy

  • Loopy

annie has proved a fantastic point and is oozing with intelectual thoughts on mr. loncar. we should all wish him a speedy recovery. you who say karma is a bitchh i cant wait for you to get in a car wreck. what you say comes back around suckaaa!!

  • SilverBullet

Wow Annie. You should consider investing in a dictionary and some grammer lessons before posting on a blog again.

As far as where the blame lies for the accident? Sorry again, Annie. Per the DFD Investigator, Mr. Loncar failed to yield to an oncoming emergency vehicle, which had the right of way.

Do some homework people, it isn’t that hard.

  • Hayden

All of you who are criticizing Brian Loncar have obviously never met the man. He is a very generous and respected man by those who have the chance to know him. He is friendly, outgoing, and down to earth. He loves his family and lives his life to support them and to better those around him. So please stop degrading him and start praying for him and his sweet family.

  • William

I think it is interesting that people are ignoring the people insurance companies represent. They don’t just represent large corporations. If some ambulance chasing lawyer sues me for someone with fake injuries then my premiums go up. This has happened to me. The wreck was not my fault and some half wit trying to make some quick cash kept me and my insurance company in court forever. There was no damage on her car and her ambulance chasing attorneys actually kept showing up at my house trying to sue me for $60,000. There was no damage on either car. Her and I were going the same direction side by side. I was in a VW Bug and she was in a late 70’s Olds Cutlass. You do the math. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. I don’t wish any harm to Mr Loncar and my prayers go out to his family. But I have no respect for his line of work and I do believe in Karma.

  • Danny

    Silver Bullet,
Wow you think you know what your talking about and your trying to act superior to everyone else. The issue does not invlolve grammar at all. The police officer your referring to had said that, but there are other laws that had been broken such as the firetruck ran a red light and was speeding at the time. My prayers are with Mr. Loncar and your should be too!

  • john

F.Y.I for the ignorant people who think they know everything…firetrucks have a greater responsibility to yield at red lights then an average driver. You do not risk other lives in order to get somewhere else. It is a law all ambulance/firetrucks must stop at red lights. period.

  • Jackye

The irony of this whole story is AMAZING!!!
I wonder if before he collided with the fire truck he thought: “Well aint this a bitch”. Who do think he called to be his “strong arm”?? HA! its unreal

  • Pensiv1

Because I could not stop for death. Death was kind enough to stop for me.

  • samidsue

I have just found out about the lawyer getting hurt and looked up the accident to see whose fault it was … I kind of figured it was his fault since he did not say in his ads … I am glad the man will be ok since he does have six children and a wife, but disappointed that he is trying to get $250,000 out of Dallas … Lawsuits like that take away from the better good for the city … Like they should spend money on lights so the Dallas firetrucks chould have the system that changes the light to red and not just the sirens that if you have the radio on and windows up, one might not hear … Maybe he was on his phone or thinking about something else … Or maybe he is just getting old … Anyway this is something Dallas should think about doing because there are alot of baby boomers getting old now, so a way for the firefighters to change the light in front of them would help … I am glad Mr Loncar says he drives like a ninety year old now so at least one good thing came out of this and one rich guy is driving safer … He does have a rotten job by taking money out of EVERYONE’S pocket to make his family rich, but I guess he laughs all the way to the bank … He is really not a good guy even tough he gives to charity and loves his family … I guess alot of people are not good though … So much greed … Sami

  • samidsue

I forgot to add that it was kind of funny that Mr Loncar had a hard time finding doctors to care for him because they feared treating a lawyer with his reputation …

  • pedatric

Ha! Most of you all are hilarious. EVERY one of you, if you had an accident and someone like Brian came to you and said the system probably owes you some money, you would go after it. Each and every one of you, no exceptions. I have been in the PI industry (insurance payee side) and I have never seen anyone turn down the opportunity, deserving or not, to get some PI money.

  • FIRE

Taxi cab drivers, convienent store clerks have dangeroud jobs, but really your opinion is obviously one of complete ignorance! We’re overated untill you need us!What a punk!!
