Kevin McCarthy Puts Souvenir Basketball Up For Sale — on WSJ.com

Back in the day, Kevin McCarthy got himself a game ball from an all-star game. Then he got it signed by his favorite players — Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Julius Erving, Karl Malone, and Hakeem Olajuwon. Nice work. But even more impressive is that he somehow got the Wall Street Journal to market the ball for him in this story. If you’re interested, looks like it’ll cost you somewhere between $2,000 and $4,000.

Yo, WSJ, I have a WBL (Women’s Basketball League) ball signed by all of the Dallas Diamonds. And a football signed by the original Dallas Texans. And I am not kidding.
Oh, and a ticket to a mid-80s Madonna concert signed by Warren Beatty. Call me.

I must not know how read. I do not see anywhere in that article where it has the ball is for sale. I only read where the possible value was disscuseed. You take headline writing at the Dallas Morning News?

  • Kevin McCarthy

Tim, the ball isn’t for sale but (almost) everything has its price.

I’d like to take credit for being clever enough to get the WSJ to do the story, but all I did was answer a survey of their online subscribers that asked if we had any unusual sports collectibles and were curious about their value.

Btw, what’s the going price for an autographed copy of the Jessica Simpson “blonde” issue?
