So, the Grand Prairie AirHogs are a new minor league baseball team in the area, and naturally, they’re trying to drum up some buzz. First, they had a contest to name their mascot. Then, they decided to do a 24-Hour Fitness Weight Loss Challenge. The latest idea? They’re giving away a funeral. During the June 3 game, a fan will receive a free funeral courtesy of the Chapel of Roses Funeral Home and Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, both located in Irving. The package includes all the trimmings, including a casket (with choice of color!), burial prep, vehicle services, and more.
We’re holding out until they include the cremation fees. But that’s just us. Go, AirHogs.
This from a team whose Managing Partner Mark
Schuster was quoted in the Dallas Morning News thusly:
“Then there’s the baseball, which will be like “background noise,” Mr. Schuster said.
“We have found when you do it right in the ballpark, when people leave, they don’t really know what the score is,” he said.
At least manager Pete Incaviglia won’t have very a very high bar when it comes to winning and losing…. it would appear that baseball is the very last thing on the minds of the Airhog braintrust in the front office.
But you have to use it within 24 hours of winning.
The competition for entertainment dollars is stiff.
No need to end with “and more.” You had me at “both located in Irving.”
