An Uptown-dwelling, curiosity-having FrontBurnervian wonders and asks:
Can you ask some in-the-police-know folks and help me find out why Search & Rescue teams have set up camp in Uptown? The Search & Rescue trucks are actually across the street from last week’s rape victim on Cole. I’m kind of freaked out because as I left my condo, there were WAY too many police cars and search and rescue teams setting up a “command central” for a minor situation.
Here’s another update from one of my neighbors:
So, I went and talked to the S&R team. I made sure to not get in their way, but they do realize that we are worried. Believe it or not, they would not tell me what was going on. All they said (which is what they say is all they could say) was that they are assisting in an investigation with the Dallas Police. I asked if it was about the incident last week and was told that they could neither confirm or deny that. Whatever it is, they have a lot of man and dog power. I will keep combing the news sites today, maybe something there will tell us what is going on. They also said that residents in this area should “keep their eyes open and be aware,” but would not tell me what exactly that meant.
Any Dallas Mavericks live around there–could be a suicide watch. Probably have to be a murder/suicide watch since nobody from the Mavs can hit anything.
An anonymous caller to the DPD alleged that there is a polygamist living on Cole.
Oh, great. Now they’re going to bus the whole area out, separate the kids from their parents, and call in CPS
And kids are a pretty rare commodity in that quarter of bon vivants. I’m thinking the most manly strategy is to smoke them out of their holes.
The above comment posters are ******. Go make your lame jokes on another blog entry. This situation is obviusly way more serious than you can comprehend!
Obviusly.
Silly AnonyMouse, there are no kids in Uptown. Once a young, fashionable, professional couple gets pregnant, the only thing left is a note on the door stating which northern suburb they’ve moved to.
Peek-aboo, you are correct. I am an *****. I really thought it was a Maverick in a threatening situation, but, of course, they’re no longer in threatening situations.
Well supposedly the Dallas Police are following up on last week’s incident. My question is - why wait a week? Wouldn’t the “scent” disappear with the rain and pedestrian traffic a week later?
Can you really blame them, Dallasite? They probably just don’t want the gay-borhood to rub off on their young children. Pun not intended.
Dale Hanson was sighted and Jerry Jones wanted him out of town.
Nothing to see here folks so move along….
and i thought it was Oak Cliff that was chock full ‘o crime. God forbid the DPD show a presence in a “safe” part of town
and, for what it’s worth, i’ve always thought uptown referred to everything north of Columbus Circle, The Ritz Carlton, FAO Schwartz etc. not this vapid, multi-use, yuppie-filled, culturally vacant enclave betwinx mckinney and cedar springs in Big D
all the true dallasites i’ve met claim there’s no such thing as uptown dallas and it’s just a stoopid moniker used by real estate professionals
educate me, please
@jrp
Uptown is a PID, it’s not some nebulous area of Dallas, it is clearly defined by the city. Property owners within the PID pay additional property taxes for additional services like landscaping, off-duty police officers, the trolly, etc.
This is the map that shows boundaries of Uptown:

thanks, dude
looks like it’s been said PID for about a decade…
i’m still gonna call it “the place where are the wankers and posers live”
