- I’m not sure how this played on TV. But during the might-as-well-have-been-season-ending loss to the New Orleans Hornets last night, when J.J. Barea entered the game with 10:32 left in the second quarter, all you could hear was the furious typing of FireAvery.com into iPhone browsers.
- If Josh Howard hadn’t admitted smoking weed, I think people would have figured it out last night. The guy who hit the half-court shot to win a new TV might have been a better option on offense. Seriously, Howard was wandering around like Smokey from Friday, only less motivated. I’m not positive he was aware he was on a basketball court.
- Oh, and Jason Kidd might get suspended for his pointless takedown of Jannero Pargo. Not that it really matters anyway. At this point, just about the only way Kidd could possibly impact this series would be if he decided to pull a Billy Cole.
And again, this is one big reason Avery must go. From Mark Stein’s Daily Dime column on ESPN.com:
“Yet there have been whispers coming from the Hornets’ camp, before the series even started, that they looked forward to playing Dallas because they were convinced that Kidd couldn’t hurt them in his current role, given Johnson’s reputation for slowing the game whenever it gets close and an offense not exactly known for ball or player movement, which so often turns Kidd into a weak-side shooter.”
*sigh*
Go Stars?
This is painful to watch. It’s times like this I think back to Bart Simpson’s genius line: I didn’t know it was possible to both suck and blow at the same time. But, after watching everyone outside of Dirk and Bass these past few nights, it’s definitely possible.
me thinks Cuban is smoking funny things too. . . ummh, maybe a funny Cuban Cigar.

MIAMI (TICKER) —Pat Riley apparently wants no part of coaching the Miami Heat.
Riley plans to resign as the Heat’s head coach but remain as the team’s president, according to a report published Monday by the Miami Herald.
The Heat have not confirmed the report but have scheduled a “major” news conference for 4 p.m. EDT Monday afternoon.
According to the Herald, Riley met with Heat owner Micky Arison over the weekend to discuss the future of the team.
Riley, 63, struggled through the worst season of his coaching career in 2007-08, guiding the Heat to a league-worst 15-67 record.
Yes, let’s hope they hire Riley. I don’t see how that could possibly go wrong.
