Jimmy Carter, The Middle East, and D Magazine

An alert FBvian points out a weird connection. As you might know, Jimmy Carter is causing a stir with his “personal peace mission” to the Middle East. He is scheduled Friday to meet exiled Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal in Damascus. Mashaal, lest you forget, has a brother who lives in Dallas. His name is Mufid Abdulqader — the former Dallas City Hall engineer who moonlighted as a singer of hate songs. He’s a current Holy Land Foundation defendant. (Abdulqader is not exactly out of the woods, despite the first HLF mistrial. He goes back to trial in August with the other defendants, although minus a count or two.)
