Paging Baron Münchhausen: The Immigration Attack That Wasn’t

You know how local talk radio was up in arms yesterday about that student in Athens, Texas, who was attacked by Hispanics for carrying an anti-illegal immigration poster? Yep, she made it up.

Well, she didn’t make it all up. The sign was taken from her by a group of hispanic students. It was the beating part that was made up.

Talk about embarassing. I don’t know how she will be able to show herself in school anymore.

May hve been inspired, at least in part, by that briefly-publicized photo of the Irving junior high kid who was being attacked for bringing the US flag to a pro-immigrant rally a couple of years ago. As it is, this particular kid won’t be able to hold her head up in her small town, as Michael points out. She’s also facing misdemeanor charges, and her parents have issued an apology. (To their credit, they didn’t immediately jump on the talk-show circuit, as far as we know.)

So are we now in for a rash of Tawanna Brawley-style false reports? Hope not.

The sign was taken from her by one kid.

What’s even more sad is that a 13 year old kid is busy spewing their parent’s politics, rather than being a kid. She’s got her whole life to start hating people, why not at least wait until after your teen years?

Well, my question is where was Al Sharpton?

Wanta bet Mark Davis already had a column ready to roll about the poor girl viciously attacked by ‘illegal’ thug-aholic brutes?
