1. Former mayor Laura Miller is now NOT doing public relations for a Washington state company building a coal gasification plant, despite this story. According to Trey’s post below this one, she says she is “negotiating here in Texas to get the plant built, not doing PR for it.” So, lobbying, then? Li’l help?

2. Speaking of gas companies, Chesapeake Energy is buying the Pier 1 building in downtown Fort Worth for $104 million. If you’re in the gas biz, and you live in Tarrant county, you’re saying to yourself, “What recession?”

3. The Texas Rangers lost their fifth consecutive season opener, 5-2. But, the good news is that the GM says they should be good again by 2009 or 2010.
