Art In Bloom

This morning I attended the Dallas Museum of Art’s annual Art In Bloom fundraiser and luncheon where renowned interior designer Bunny Williams gave a thorough and informative lecture and fashion designer, Peter Som (one of my favorites at the moment) was in town to present his Fall 2008 collection (which you can find at Forty Five Ten during the trunk show today until 6 PM).  The designer’s collection featured many luxurious fabrics such as crocodile (one jacket that retails for $35,000), extravagant furs including an ombre mink coat, and a feathered and beaded dress that had many jaws dropping. Staples included slouchy tweed pants and skirts topped with printed blouses and sweater jackets. Lots of looks for the Dallas socialite.

Some tips that I noted from Bunny Williams lecture:
There’s no “new” color, choose colors that you like when decorating a room.
Use strong color, but mix with neutrals.
Slip-cover dining room chairs for versatility.
Everyone wants a kitchen no one else has, but in the end, a kitchen’s kitchen.
