Oil is $110 per Barrel. You’re welcome, Texas.

We simply aren’t seeing the massive layoffs that normally happen at the beginning of a recession. Yes, Citibank, Home Depot, and a few others have had some layoffs, but overall, people are still working.

hey, do not tell anyone. More of the Yankees will be moving down to God’s country.

You aren’t going to hear about all of the layoffs, unless it happens at a publicly traded company. I have two friends who have been un/underemployed since November who are still looking to get back into their respective fields - and illegals aren’t know for jobs that pay 6 figure salaries. The company I used to work for is down to about 30 people in the Dallas office, from 100 people, but since a private equity group bought them, you’ll never see a news article on it.
Dallas, and Texas, has gotten lucky since we are still an oil state, but the people I know and talk to on a regular basis are still cutting back on spending and are trying to pay off debt.

Wow, SE that is the most generic statement about a recession I have every heard. I think that I would need a little more detail linking the fact that your six figure friends can’t find work in fours months to a recession.
Gosh I hate George Bush. How dare he inherit a down economy from Clinton (yes, we were on the verge of recession when Clinton left office) and give us many years of incredible economic and job growth … even after 9/11 destroyed our stock market! The gall of that man to cut taxes to grow our economy. Everyone knows that only government policies and wealth redistribution can lead to prosperity instead of the free market system that has made us the envy of the world.
