Leading Off

1. This Frisco man, who made the very dangerous decision to not live in Dallas, where it’s safe, is lucky to have only suffered a flesh wound after exchanging gunfire with an afternoon intruder.

2. The retail strip at the northwest corner of Central and Mockingbird will be demolished to make way for the Bush library. I will miss you, sweet Roly Poly. Cue this.

3. Although they say there is no evidence of fraud, the Feds say the Dallas Housing Authority must account for or repay $32 million bucks it has mis-handled/managed/placed.

Wait, where is Pokey O’s going???

  • ROJ

I think Pokey O’s might want to investigate that old Fiesta Mart location.

The duplexes on Potomac behind the shopping center will still be there, so SMU will not be able to tie whatever they build in the shopping center spot into the rest of the campus–unless the buy all the duplexes I suppose.

So, they’re tearing down the Roly Poly, but the Segway store across the street will continue to stand? Whattheheck.

I just don’t get it. Why take away such a vital piece of the SMU environment, just because of the library? Was it such a critical negotiating element to get the library across the street? I’ve been going to that La Madeleine for years, and it’s always been a great spot for a quick dinner. It didn’t hurt meeting some SMU girls on occasion either.

I will follow my beloved Swiss Cleaners wherever they move. They remember your name (I haven’t used a cleaning ticket in years) and they don’t mess up your gear. A hard combo to find.

Just another example of Bush’s percieved omnipotence. Why not inconvenience the rest of the world for your personal gain. It is just wrong on so many levels.

Does anyone know if the Bush Library will have a cafe, and if it could perhaps serve La Madeline’s mango iced tea?

  • Bethany
